For my thesis I will be illustrating a triptych depicting the past, present and future

of the taino and two sculptures on the Zemi. The triptych will not be a single illustration

but set in a comic format with three panels depicting different aspects of taino culture.

The past will depict how the taino of the past were farmers, hunters and gatherers, the

present will show how modern day taino are fighting to be acknowledged, seen and

hard.

The future will be more figurative with the future of the taino culture will be

depicted in a very stylized futuristic aesthetic similar to afro-futurism.The zemi figures I

will be sculpting will be the trigonolito and the Diosa Luna, the figures will be painted

with traditional Taino patterns and will be allowed to be held do that the viewer can have

a connection to the past.
